As UK food waste soars could you be doing more?
A recent study carried out on behalf of Waitrose found that 14% of the 2000 adults questioned forgot to check sell by dates, while one in ten admitted to buying more than needed in the first place.
The research found eggs, yoghurt, and cheese to be the most common items wasted closely followed by fruit and salad such as tomatoes, lettuce, and citrus fruits.
Not planning supermarket shopping and over estimating portion sizes are the main reasons given for food waste.
